These Merchant Terms of Service ("Merchant Terms") apply specifically to store owners and staff using ChatFi to run a store ("Merchant", "you", "your"). They sit alongside, and add extra detail to, our general Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which continue to apply. Where these Merchant Terms and the general Terms of Service conflict on a matter specific to running a store, these Merchant Terms apply.
You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials and any transaction PIN secure, and for all activity on your account. If you invite staff, you're responsible for what they do on your store.
You're the seller of record for everything you list. You're solely responsible for your product listings, pricing, descriptions, images, order fulfilment, and for publishing a clear refund and shipping policy on your store. ChatFi provides the software; it does not review or approve your listings before they go live, though we may remove content that violates these Terms or the law.
ChatFi does not charge a subscription fee to open or run a store. You pay:
If your Wallet balance can't cover a recurring add-on charge, we'll notify you and give you a grace period before that feature reverts to its free default (for example, a premium theme reverting to a free template — your customizations are kept and restored if you renew).
Because payments are non-custodial, disputes over a specific sale are between you and your buyer, in line with your own refund policy. Where a payment processor or card network initiates a chargeback or reversal on a transaction, you're responsible for it, and any related processing or dispute fee may be passed on to you. We'll notify you where we can and give you a chance to respond with supporting evidence.
We may ask you to verify your identity or business (for example, government ID or business registration documents) before enabling certain features, particularly anything involving payouts or the ChatFi Wallet. You're responsible for the accuracy of any verification information you provide.
Free templates: ads may appear on your storefront by default — this is part of how we keep the free tier free. Placements are limited to your product grid, storefront footer, wishlist, and orders pages, and are always labelled "Ad" or "Sponsored." Ads never appear on your cart, checkout, or payment pages.
Premium themes: your store is ad-free by default. You can optionally turn ads on in exchange for a reduced theme rental price, shown to you in your dashboard when you opt in. This is entirely your choice, and switching back off takes effect from your next billing cycle.
Ads are served through a third-party ad network (currently Google Ad Manager), based on aggregate impressions — never clicks, to avoid rewarding accidental or incentivized clicking. We don't sell your store or customer data to advertisers beyond what's technically needed to serve a generic ad on the page. See our Privacy Policy for how ad-related data is handled.
You keep ownership of your product listings, images, and store content. You grant ChatFi a license to host, display, and distribute that content as needed to run your storefront — for example, showing your products to buyers, or featuring your store in our own marketing.
We may suspend or close your account if we reasonably believe you've violated these Terms, engaged in fraud, or put the platform or other users at risk. You can close your store at any time. Fees already paid aren't refunded except where required by law, and any content or funds tied to your store are handled per our general Terms of Service.
These Merchant Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State.
